Specialisation in Integrated Marketing Communication Management

Calcutta Media Institute (CMI), promoted by ABP Pvt. Ltd., and Indian Institute of Social Welfare & Business Management (IISWBM), pioneers in business management in India Have come together to offer a 1 year PG Diploma in Media Management (University of Calcutta) Specialisation in Integrated Marketing Communication Management. The main objective of this programme, which is perhaps the only course of its kind in India, is to provide an opportunity to young graduates, with a flair for creativity, to acquire professional skills for pursuing a career in marketing, media and communication industries in India.

The programme aims to prepare students for assuming responsible positions in organizations with specialized knowledge and to equip them to face modern day challenging business situations and deal with problems relating to men, resources, finance and other functions of the organization. PGDBM programme is offered in six semesters, i.e. two semesters per year. In the first and second semesters, the candidate will have to take compulsory subjects (i.e. five subjects per semester).

  Pedagogy

The method of teaching will be lectures by facilities who are regular academicians and by guest faculties all of whom are practicing industry professionals with huge experience. Special classes by visiting faculties, quiz, open sessions, exposure to various production processes by visiting the relevant centres and projects will also be a part of the teaching method. The assessment will be based on written tests at the end of each semester and also the quality of assignment/ internship. Equipment like LCD projectors, audio systems, Wi-Fi and broadband internet connection etc. are available and will be used as per need of the teaching methodology.

The main objective of this programme, which is perhaps the only course of its kind in India, is to provide students interested in television management as a career, grounding the fundamentals, the concepts, the methods and practices - to ease their entry into the profession.

  Pedagogy

The method of teaching will be lectures by faculties who are regular academicians and by guest faculties all of whom are practicing industry professionals with huge experience. Special classes by visiting faculties, open sessions, workshops, exposure to various technical/ production processes by visiting the relevant TV Channels/ Production houses/ studios and projects will be part of the teaching process. The assessment will be based on written tests at the end of each semester and also the quality of assignment/ internship.   Brief Course Curriculum

One full academic year spreading over two semesters will include theoretical papers, projects/ assignments and industry internship.
