Dr. Arindam Dutta is an Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Department of Energy Management (under MBA-PS) at the Indian Institute of Social Welfare & Business Management (IISWBM), Kolkata. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Nagpur University, a Master's degree in Electrical Power Engineering from the University of Calcutta, and a Ph.D. in Energy Engineering from Jadavpur University. With over 18 years of combined experience in academia, industry, and applied consultancy, Dr. Dutta has developed strong expertise at the intersection of power systems, sustainability, and energy policy.
His core areas of specialization include solar and renewable energy systems, energy and safety audits, energy forecasting, power & carbon trading, green buildings, sustainability and ESG reporting, carbon foot printing, and energy/environmental impact assessment studies. He is a Certified Energy Auditor (BEE) and an Empanelled Energy and Green Building Consultant, with extensive experience in executing technically rigorous and policy-aligned projects for public and private sector organizations. Dr. Dutta is professionally certified as an ISO 50001:2018 Lead Auditor (CQI-IRCA certified training), a Certified Professional in Greenhouse Gas Accounting and Verification (ISO 14064-1 & ISO 14064-3), and a Certified Professional in Product Carbon Footprint and Life Cycle Assessment (ISO 14067, ISO 14040/44). In addition to institutional consulting, he has been actively involved in GHG inventory verification and LCA critical review assignments aligned with international standards.
He has authored more than 30 research papers and book chapters published in reputed international journals and edited volumes, covering renewable energy policy, building energy efficiency, green finance, ESG metrics, and low-carbon transition pathways. Dr. Dutta has successfully led and contributed to over 24 research and consultancy projects funded by organizations such as NTPC Ltd., Power Finance Corporation (PFC), IREDA, Coal India Ltd., Tata Steel, the World Bank, and various central and state government agencies. His recent work includes plant-level Scope-3 emission reduction studies for NTPC and multiple CSR impact assessment studies conducted in accordance with the Companies Act, 2013.
He is associated with various technical committees at the State and National levels, contributing to expert reviews, policy discussions, professional training, and capacity-building initiatives in the energy and sustainability domains. Dr. Dutta currently serves as Secretary, Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), India -Chapter.
In recognition of his contributions, Dr. Dutta was awarded the "Energy Innovator of the Year - Asia Subcontinent Region " by the Association of Energy Engineers (USA) at the World Energy Engineering Congress, Orlando (2015). In the same forum, a Coal India-funded research and development project on efficient energy management led by him received the Best Innovative Project Award (Asia Subcontinent Region) .
