It is a full-time/part-time doctoral programme that offers students opportunities for advanced studies and research in different specializations related to Management Science. The Programme aims to prepare students for careers in teaching and research in management studies and in related disciplines, and for careers in the government, in industry, and in other organizations that require advanced analytical and research capabilities.
The PhD program on Public Systems, Social Welfare and Management is designed to encourage original research on critical and contemporary issues ofPublic Systems (viz. environment management, energy management, transportation & logistics management, hospital & health care management, sports management, etc), Social Welfare and Business Management.
The PhD Programme on Public Systems, Social Welfare and Management is guided by the 'Regulation for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy, PhD Regulation 2016' of Calcutta University and other relevant rules and orders of the University.
The broad areas of research will include any issue of Public Systems, Social Welfare and Management that has not been explored in depth in academic and scientific institutions in the country or abroad and on which there are scope for creation of new knowledge and understanding or add new values to the existing knowledge on the subject. Some of the indicative broadthemes of such research may include the following, but these are by no means exhaustive, and scholars selecting any theme have to further narrow down the focus for detailed and comprehensive exploration and analysis:
Upon successful defense of the dissertation, the degree Doctor of Philosophy will be awarded to the candidate by University of Calcutta.
