Dr. Sohini Banerjee

Profile

Dr Sohini Banejee has completed her 5 year LLB(Honours) from the Department of Law,University of Calcutta with a First class First,her LLM (Masters in Law) from the University of Cambridge(UK) and PhD in Law from the Department of Law,University of Calcutta. Dr Sohini Banerjee was inspired to specialize in Civil and Criminal laws,Corporate Laws Criminal Laws and Intellectual Property Rights Law by her Professors of law at the University of Calcutta and the University of Cambridge,UK. In her work in Intellectual Property laws, she has been consistently inspired by Professor Dr William C Cornish,Herschel Smith Professor of IPR Law at the University of Cambridge and Fellow, Magdalene College.

Though Gender Justice, Women's Rights, IPR and IPR laws remain key hermeneutic passions with Dr Banerjee, at present she is also tasked as an Honorary Legal Advisor and as the Public Information Officer(PIO) at IISWBM Kolkata apart from her teaching and academic assignments. Dr Banerjee was also awarded the Lalchand Mookerjee Fellowship from the University of Calcutta.She has delivered Invited Lectures at various fora such as at Pondicherry University, NIT Manipur,University of Madras and at the Indian Chamber of Commerce Guwahati,inter alia.Though legal activism is her forte,Dr Banerjee has also authored several research articles on legal issues which were published in legal journals and newspapers.Dr Banerjee is keenly interested in the murmurations of litigation as well as legal research.

Dr Sohini Banerjee was also elected as the Sexual Harassment Officer at Cambridge University Students' Union(CUSU) at the hustings.She is also a avid Rabindrasangeet singer.
