Brief profile

Piyali Sengupta, currently holds position of Assistant Professor, Energy Management of MBA - Public Systems (MBA-PS) Department at the Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management (IISWBM), Kolkata, India. Her academic specialization includes Sustainable Development, Carbon Management, Energy Policy, and Energy Efficiency Improvements. She has over 14years of teaching/professional experience.

Currently she is also a Research Scholar of the University of Calcutta, India. She obtained her Master's degree in Sustainable Development from Staffordshire University, UK and Post Graduate Diploma in Energy Management from IISWBM, Kolkata. She was a full Commonwealth Scholarship holder to peruse study at Staffordshire University, UK. She had done B.Sc in Physics from University of Calcutta, India.

Other than research and academic activities, she is also coordinating MBA-Public Systems(General Management, 2012 - till date), short term / certificate courses in energy management; seminars; various energy efficiency, renewable energy, climate change mitigation and sustainability projects which covers community development to industrial profitability/sustainability issues.

She is also an author and co-author of various international and national journals and book chapters with Elsevier, Springer, and Asia-Pacific Business Review etc. Her research area includes Sustainable Development, Industrial Sustainability, Energy Policy and Climate Change.

She is also holding honorary position of CWEEL Lead Officer India and Treasurer, Association of Energy Engineers (AEE - USA) IISWBM Kolkata Chapter, India. As an active member of AEE Kolkata Chapter, she is involved in various activities of AEE Kolkata chapter including conducting and moderating seminars and (both online and offline mode). She has received the prestigious award - 'CWEEL (USA) Chapter Champion Award' from New Orleans, LA, USA in 2021 AEE World Energy Conference & Expo for outstanding contribution to advance women in Energy and Environment.
