Binoy K Choudhury, a Mechanical Engineering Graduate from Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College, Ph.D. in Solar Energy from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India), Association of Engineers (India), Association of Energy Engineers (AEE, USA) & Indian Water Works Association - is currently Professor in the Energy Management stream of Public Systems Management (PSM) programme. Since his joining IISWBM in 1997, he served as Coordinator of Energy Management for about ten years and also served thereafter his tenure as Head of MPSM and MBA-PS at the Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management (IISWBM), Kolkata. He is founder Coordinator, Professor-in-Charge: Short Term Course (STC) in Energy Management & Audit and Training Seminar & Examination (TSE) of Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) USA for Certified Energy Manager (CEM) & Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) International courses. He has over 28 years of teaching/professional experience which includes more than 25 years in the present Institute. He served as Principal Investigator/Coordinator in more than fifteen renewable energy and energy efficiency projects which covers community development to industrial profitability/sustainability issues. He is honourary Vice President International Member Development Asia Sub-continent in Association of Energy Engineers USA; member in Energy & Environment Standing Committee, the Bengal National Chamber of Commerce & Industry and also The Bengal Chamber; Chairman, JICA Alumni Association of India; and is life member of Solar Energy Society of India, Indian Society for Technical Education, Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture and Institution of Engineers (India) and Indian Water-Works Association (IWWA). He is founder editor of Energy Window, on the editorial board of REASON- A Technical Journal and reviewer of ACTA Press, Energy for Sustainable Development, etc.

He had secured National Scholarship in 1981, graduated in 1988, Ph D in 1994 and won best research paper award in 1998 from Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS), New Delhi and Faculty Award in 2004. He is a Certified Energy Auditor (CEA), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Renewable Energy Professional (CREP) and Trainer (CEA, CEM & REP) of Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), USA; MNRE Empanelled National Level Evaluator of Solar Thermal Programmes and Accredited Energy Auditor (AEA) and Accredited Energy Auditor (CEA) of the Government of India. He served United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) as Economic Affairs Officer in the Energy Resources Section and contributed to the regional energy scenario assessment, improvement of energy efficiency and CDM workshop. He has contributed/published, more than 50 in numbers, in books, journals, international and national seminars, workshops, etc. He is the founder secretary of AEE Kolkata/IISWBM Chapter (erstwhile AEE India Chapter) and Energy Club Kolkata.

Foreign Educational Tour:

Participated in educational tour, team comprising 28 students and faculty members from India's premier Business Schools and Colleges of Engineering, to three locations in China (Beijing - Shenyang - Shanghai), organized by India China Alliance Center, New Delhi 25th 2007 to December 6th 2007.
Visited HNU University of Applied Sciences, Germany as a part of Academic Exchange programme during April 8-15, 2018 as professor taking classes, etc.

Secured National Scholarship in Madhyamik Examination (1981)
Secured best research paper award in the Tenth Annual Convention of the Association of Indian Management Schools, New Delhi, 1998 for the paper on "Energy Survey for installing of SPV Power Plants in Isolated islands in Sundarbans".
Secured Second Prize from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) on contribution towards second edition of the four guide-books for Certified Energy Manager and Certified Energy Auditor examinations.
Secured Faculty Award at IISWBM in 2004 for excellent performance.
During the Secretary-ship, the AEE India Chapter, for eight consecutive years, each year during 2003-2012, received international awards including Best Website Award, Best Student Chapter Award, Best Community Service Award and Best Overall Performance Award.
Recognized as one of the 'Legends in Energy' by the Association of Energy Engineers, USA in the WORLD ENERGY ENGINEERING CONGRESS held during October 1-3, 2008 at Washington DC, USA and also during October 31 - November 2, 2012, Atlanta, USA.
Elected as Life Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India) in 2010.
Elected as Life Fellow of the Association of Engineers (India) in 2013.
Paper title "Relationship Between Electricity Consumption and Ambient Temperature: A Non-Linear Time Varying Approach" authored by Nimai Manna, Binoy Krishna Choudhury and Rajib Das presented at the 2nd International Conference on Evidence Based Management (ICEMBM) 2017 at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, secured the Best Paper Award
Paper title "A realistic glimpse in to India's Energy Security in foreseeable future, can renewable alternatives really push aside coal from its high energy pedestal?" (co-authored) presented at 32nd Indian Engineering Congress held at Udaipur, Rajasthan, India in 2018 won the Coal India (J G Kumaramangalam Memorial) Award 2018.
