Profile

Dr.K. M. Agrawalpursued Master Degree in Environmental Science from the APS University, Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, India. He did his Doctoral Level Research on Optimization of Stack Height for Effective Dilution and Dispersion of Air Pollutant under Environmental Science & Engineering Discipline from the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), Nagpur, India.Currently he is working as Professor of Environment Management and Former Dean at Indian Institute of Social Welfare & Business Management, Kolkata, West Bengal, India.Dr.Agrawal is also Vice President of AEE (USA) - IISWBM Kolkata Chapter, India.

Dr.Agrawal has been associated with more than 150 research and consultancy projects in the fields of Environmental Impact Assessment, Environmental Pollution Control and Management including Ecological & Social Impact Assessment, Socio-Economy, Environment, Health, Safety, CSR-CD activities, etc. funded by World Bank, ADB, JBIC, NTPC, UNDP, WBPDCL, WBPCB, WBIDC, KMDA, WBSEDCL, Adani Power, Reliance, etc. as Project Coordinator.

In his career, he has organised more than 55 MDPs/EDPs/Workshops/Seminar for industrial engineers/employees of various public and private enterprises viz., Steel Authority of India Limited, Schneider Electric Infrastructure Limited, CESC, Tata Steel, Indian Oil Management Academy, NTPC, various Thermal Power Stations of WBPDCL (Sagardighi, Santadih, Bandel, Bakreswar, Sagardighi, Kolaghat), NHPC Limited, Mitra S K Private Limited, Castrol India Limited, ESAB India Limited, Ispat Industries Limited - Dolvi, Mumbai on various aspects of environment, energy and social issues viz., Safety, Health and Environment; Environmental Pollution Control and Management; Corporate ESG/ Sustainability; Risk Analysis & Disaster Management; Awareness on Corporate Social Responsibility; Land Acquisition Issues and R&R; etc.

He has been empaneled as Ph.D. Guide in Public Systems, Social Welfare and Management under University of Calcutta at IISWBM. He has also been empaneled as Ph.D. Guide in Business Management, Department of Business Management. He is currently guiding five (5) Ph.D. scholars of University of Calcutta. Seven (7) Ph.D. scholars have been awarded under University of Calcutta under his supervision. Seven (7) students have successfully completed M.Phil in Management under University of Calcutta under his supervision. He has been nominated by Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, The University of Burdwan; APS University, Rewa, M.P as an Examiner for Ph.D. Viva-Voce Examination. He has guided more than 200 Master level thesis in the various fields of Environment and Energy Management.

He is Vice President of Executive Body and Life Member of Indian Water Works Association. He is also Member of various professional Institutions and societies viz. Indian Association of Environment Management, Nagpur; Indian Association for Air Pollution Control, New Delhi; Indian Science Congress Association, Calcutta; Social & Environmental Audit Association, Calcutta; Founder Member, Social & Environmental Research Institute, Ahmedabad.

He has been selected as Paper Setter and Examiner of the Department of Business Administration - Public Systems, University of Calcutta; University of Kalyani.

Dr. Agrawal has been appointed as a member of monitoring committee as per direction of Government of India for the UNDP Project on Biodiversity Conservation Project in Sundarbans, 2004.He visited various countries for participation in Academic programme.

Dr. Agrawal has been interviewed by Times of India for "Greening Environmental Education", Article published in Times of India, June 28, 2004; By DD Bangla/Doordarshan for their programme "KeHoteChayee" on Environment Management for live telecast, January 12, 2004 and subsequent re-telecast on DD Bangla Channel, January 18, 2004; By ETV Bangla for their programme of CAREERSCOPE on Environment and the programme was telecasted at ETV Bangla Channel, July 10, 2003.

Teaching

Dr.Agrawal is actively engaged in teaching on various dimensions of environmental and social issues. He has about 40 years of research and teaching experience in the field of Environment Management with special emphasis on designing of Environmental Quality Monitoring Network; Environmental Quality Simulation Modeling; Control Equipment Designing & Efficiency Evaluation; Environmental Impact Assessment; Social Impact Assessment; Environmental Management Plan; Risk Analysis & Disaster Management Plan for Major Industrial Sectors viz., Thermal Power Plant, Cement, Petrochemical, Mining, Paper & Pulp Industry, Fertilizer and Chemical Plant, etc.; Integrated Environmental Management Planning; Computer Based EA and Data Processing; Monitoring and Evaluation of Social Impact Assessment and R & R Strategies; etc. In Public Systems Management– Environment Management [MBA-PS (ENVM)], he teaches Air Pollution Monitoring & Control, Clean Development Mechanism, Environmental Legislation, etc. In Public Systems Management-Energy Management [MBA-PS (ENGM)], he teaches various issues in Energy Management. In Public Systems Management-Transportation & Logistics Management [MBA-PS (TLM)], he teaches green supply chain management.
