Eligibility
Graduate in Engineering/Science or its equivalent from recognized University or Diploma in Engineering recognized by AICTE or Board of Technical Education.
High risk buildings, commercial complexes, IT sector, multiplex, medical institutes and nursing homes, industrial establishments in the large as well as MSME sectors must have modern fire safety system and monitoring practice on a regular basis as per the West Bengal Fire Service Act, 1950 amended in 1996. The course, Advanced Diploma in Fire Safety Management, was introduced by IISWBM first time in the eastern region of the country in 2013, in keeping with the Government of West Bengal's objectives to provide employment in the fields hitherto uncovered having great societal needs.
It is not only important to have in place the necessary amount of fire safety equipment in an establishment, but it is also equally important to have properly trained Fire Safety Manager/Supervisor to effectively maintain the same.
Accordingly, action is being taken to amend the West Bengal Fire Service Act for including the statutory provision of appointment of a qualified fire safety manager in addition to providing stringent fire protection and detection systems in any high risk establishment to look after the fire & life safety matters of the occupants.
This course has following key objectives:
The course is affiliated by the West Bengal State Council of Technical & Vocational Education and Skill Development (WBSCTVESD).
The course on Fire Safety Management has been designed by a team of renowned professionals and academia drawn from West Bengal Fire and Emergency Services, Government of West Bengal and IISWBM in keeping with the objectives of the Government of West Bengal to give increased emphasis on specific skills development at the post graduate level with potential for employment.
In this context, not only Fire Safety Science/Engineering knowledge is adequate, but also Management part of the course will develop future fire safety managers with the knowledge of fire prevention, protection and control strategies.
As compared to conventional post graduate institutes/universities, our management Institute equips our students with knowledge of management principle, organizational behavior, soft skill and communication, etc. besides computer knowledge to enhance employability.
Our Course Content includes both theoretical and practical orientation. Students undergoing Fire Safety Management course will receive hands-on practical/laboratory training from the Institute of Fire Services, Government of West Bengal, Silpara, Behala.
Industry/field visits are organized by the Department to enrich students with current state-of-the-art techniques.
Case study based discussions are conducted by the industry experts.
Students will be guided to undertake project and dissertation work in each semester on current related issues of Fire safety.
Various projects are also conducted on Fire Safety Audit, where students are involved from the stage of data collection upto analysis and report writing. Thus students are groomed to make suitable for current needs of the recruiters.

Candidates shall preferably be employed at the time of admission.
The applicants for the admission to the Fire Safety Management Course short-listed on the basis of academic performance would be required to appear for Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

I pursued Fire Safety Management coursefrom IISWBM in thesession 2017-18.Now I am working as an Entrepreneur in Fire Safety Industry. Besides this, I am now engaged with various social activities. I conduct Fire Safety Audit for various high risk establishments. I am getting involved in imparting fire safety training to students of various schools and colleges, even to offices. I am closely working with fire safety awareness programme in association with Fire &Security Association of India (FSAI), Rotary Club and Durga pujo committees of Kolkata for disseminating knowledge that I have acquired from IISWBM. After completion of my Masters in English, I had taken admission in Fire Safety Management course at IISWBM in the session 2016-17. With the help and guidance of our world class faculty members, I stood First in the order of merit and became a Safety Executive in an MNC. After working for 9 months,suddenly there was a chance to become a part of West Bengal Fire and Emergency Services Department and was appointed there in the year 2018. After pursuing Diploma in Civil Engineering and having knowledge about CAD Designing, I was looking for a specialization for better professional opportunities in my career. The Advanced Diploma in Fire Safety Management - Post Graduate course offered by IISWBM in the session 2015-16 under quite positive guidance of Pioneers of the Fire Sector in India helped me a lot to improve my knowledge. After graduation in Mechanical Engineering, I have done my Diploma in Industrial Safety from West Bengal State Council of Technical Education. I have worked in several construction projects with renowned MNCs like L&T, TCE, CholaMS Risk Service, Lafarge, etc. as a Safety Officer, from where I came to know about the vivid requirements of Fire Safety in projects as well as in operational Buildings. I, Ankur Jana, have undergone my schooling at St.Xavier's School, Haldia with 80% and 75% in MP and HS respectively. Then I have passed B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from WBUT with a CGPA of 7.72. After that I have passed ADFSM from IISWBM in session 2014-15 with 75% marks. After getting placed professionally, I have been working as a Design Engineer at TTS CONSULTANT for 6 years and then as a Project Engineer at SIEMENS for 1 year. Presently, I am working as a BIM Engineer-Fire Protection System at CANAM KOLKATA INC.

In my ADFSM course in session 2014-15, I got a job L&T Construction through campus interview.They selected me but my monthly salary was only Rs. 6500/-. I did not get any joining letter from them, they just told to join at their site office. Then I had no clear idea about the joining process and as I was fresher, so I joined as advised by them and at that time I needed a job to backup my family.After joining I came to know that it was an electrical project and after few monthI got to know that Iwas a casual site safety steward in their Electrical work site. I knew thatafter one/two year when their project will close, they will simply remove me,then I was very hopeless.But I got an honest senior, who made me skilled on electrical safety and I tried my level best to be a perfect electrical safety supervisor. Accordingly,I learntto work in field over every point. After the completion of the project, they removed me after one and half year of my joining. Later, I put down my CV to NCC Ltdand after checking of my skill on electrical safety, they selected me as a safety engineer/ Safety Officer and offered me to join as a permanent staff at their electrical project DDUGJY in West Bengal.I handled the Big project gladly with my knowledge and at last after the completion of that large electrical project, NCC transferred me to Bangalore on Sept, 2020 in Under Ground Electrical project.I am very happy in my present job, as it is a model project of Central Govt and giving honour to my company NCC, that they have given the scope to learn me at this model project.Now Ihave developed myselfin the job of electrical safety besides fire safety.

After graduation, I pursued Advance Diploma in Fire Management from IISWBM in the session 2015-16 and Certificate course in Construction Safety in State Labour Institute, Kolkata. After pursuing ADFSM from IISWBM, my first job was TCS Gitanjali Park, Kolkata as a Fire Technician(2016 to 2017). After that I joined in Times of India Office under Securapvt. Limited, Kolkata as a Fire Safety Officer(2017 to 2018).I am glad to mention that now I am working in Rashmi Metaliks Limited, Kharagpur, W.B. as a Sr. Fire Officer.

After passingB.Sc from Calcutta University in 2014, I joined ADFSM in IISWBM in the session 2017-18.After passing out from IISWBM, I got placed in Imagenous Engineering Pvt Ltd from the College placement cell, which helped to launch my career in Fire Detection System as an Design & Project Executive. Currently I am working in Johnson's Controls Pvt Ltd as an Engineer Support Specialist based in Bangalore.I am glad that I got the opportunity to associate myself with this prime institute and set my career on the right path under the proper guidance of our valuable professors.

After completing my Engineering, I was planning to choose another career option to move in rather than the IT industry. Listening to lots of sources, I decided to take admission on a newly started course on Fire Safety Management at IISWBMin the session 2014-15, one of the reputed colleges in Kolkata. This course was introduced also by the Govt of West Bengal. We had been taught by very high officials of govt employees and also got Practical training at IFS Kolkata. After completion of my course, I got placed at Larsen & Toubro Ltd through college campus interview& right now I am looking after Project Coordinator Safety post in an MNC company. It's a great experience on the journey from college to a professional career.

Whole-time Director of his own Company, graduated with a Bachelor Degree from the Calcutta University. He is also Advanced Diploma Holder in Fire Safety Management from IISWBM in the session 2013-14. He heads the marketing and commercial departments of his Company. Mr. Sarkar joined the Board of Directors of the Company since incorporation. He had been elected as Secretary for FSAI, Kolkata Chapter for the period of 2020-22.
