Eligibility
Graduate in Engineering/Science or its equivalent from recognized University or Diploma in Engineering recognized by AICTE or Board of Technical Education.
High risk buildings, commercial complexes, IT sector, multiplex, medical institutes and nursing homes, industrial establishments in the large as well as MSME sectors must have modern fire safety system and monitoring practice on a regular basis as per the West Bengal Fire Service Act, 1950 amended in 1996. The course, Advanced Diploma in Fire Safety Management, was introduced by IISWBM first time in the eastern region of the country in 2013, in keeping with the Government of West Bengal's objectives to provide employment in the fields hitherto uncovered having great societal needs.
It is not only important to have in place the necessary amount of fire safety equipment in an establishment, but it is also equally important to have properly trained Fire Safety Manager/Supervisor to effectively maintain the same.
Accordingly, action is being taken to amend the West Bengal Fire Service Act for including the statutory provision of appointment of a qualified fire safety manager in addition to providing stringent fire protection and detection systems in any high risk establishment to look after the fire & life safety matters of the occupants.

The course is affiliated by the West Bengal State Council of Technical & Vocational Education and Skill Development (WBSCTVESD).
The course on Fire Safety Management has been designed by a team of renowned professionals and academia drawn from West Bengal Fire and Emergency Services, Government of West Bengal and IISWBM in keeping with the objectives of the Government of West Bengal to give increased emphasis on specific skills development at the post graduate level with potential for employment.
In this context, not only Fire Safety Science/Engineering knowledge is adequate, but also Management part of the course will develop future fire safety managers with the knowledge of fire prevention, protection and control strategies.
As compared to conventional post graduate institutes/universities, our management Institute equips our students with knowledge of management principle, organizational behavior, soft skill and communication, etc. besides computer knowledge to enhance employability.
Our Course Content includes both theoretical and practical orientation. Students undergoing Fire Safety Management course will receive hands-on practical/laboratory training from the Institute of Fire Services, Government of West Bengal, Silpara, Behala.
Industry/field visits are organized by the Department to enrich students with current state-of-the-art techniques.
Case study based discussions are conducted by the industry experts.
Students will be guided to undertake project and dissertation work in each semester on current related issues of Fire safety.
Various projects are also conducted on Fire Safety Audit, where students are involved from the stage of data collection upto analysis and report writing. Thus students are groomed to make suitable for current needs of the recruiters.

The applicants for the admission to the Fire Safety Management Course short-listed on the basis of academic performance would be required to appear for Group Discussion and Personal Interview. Total strength of the students to be admitted is 30 (Thirty) only for Day course.
Graduate in Engineering/Science or its equivalent from recognized University or Diploma in Engineering recognized by AICTE or Board of Technical Education.
Candidates shall preferably be employed at the time of admission.
The applicants for the admission to the Fire Safety Management Course short-listed on the basis of academic performance would be required to appear for Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
Total strength of the students to be admitted is 30 (Thirty) only for Evening course.
